Third kid
This is a photo of KP on the last day of school, during the last song of the preschool concert.
If he was my first child, I would have been mortified. The entire concert he was a screwing around, haming it up, trying to make other kids laugh, singing falsetto and working some dramatic dance movements into all the songs.
I, of course, could not stop laughing. Adam kept telling me I was terrible and nudging me with his elbow to stop.
At the bitter end of it all, when the music stopped and the kids stopped signing, he droped to the ground (as shown above) and yells, “AMEN…AAAAMMMMEENNNNNN!”
And then we left for summer break.

Today I overheard a woman say to her friend:
So I asked Jack what he wanted for breakfast this morning and he said, I want a big’ol bowl of I DON’T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL!

I went to CT’s school this afternoon to read stories to his class.
His teacher (Mr. D) had me sit in the “teacher” chair and had CT stand by my side. Mr. D asked CT to introduce me and then tell the class two things that he would know about me that they wouldn’t.
CT put one hand on my shoulder and the other hand up to his mouth with his pointer finger tapping on his lips (showing he was really thinking on this one).
He said, “Hmmmm let’s see…her name is Mary and she is really, REALLY good at sports. But, she is NOT good at ball sports, NONE, no ball sports AT ALL. Oh and let’s see, she’s nice.

PJ and I were on a bike ride yesterday. She was telling me a little about school, who she plays with, what they play, that she really does know what the teacher is saying to her.
Then she asked, “Why did you send me there?”
My response was, “We felt it was the best gift we could ever give you, the gift of a second language.”
She said nothing for a long time. As a matter of fact, I think she’s still thinking about it.

KP and I swung by school to have lunch with PJ today.
I thought it would be a good idea. I thought it would be fun. I thought she would enjoy having us there sharing a meal with her new classmates.
I was wrong. She was not ready for home to collide with school.
There were A LOT of tears and carrying-on when we tried to leave.
Really…there is nothing more heart wrenching than turning away from your child when all they really want is you.

Here he is…the littlest one to fly the coupe.
So ready and so excited for his first day of preschool.
Not a problem in the world today. He took school by storm and then sang me a song and showed me all the things he did.
We both had a wonderful morning.

Target was out of school supplies.
Yes, I know. I couldn’t believe it either, fucking out! Erika had warned me that this happened to her last year (I didn’t believe it would happen to me). Not with my waxing poetic and lovely thoughts of the Trapper Keeper gone by.
Out of what you ask, let me check my list: plastic folders with pockets in red and green, pink erasers, large Elmer’s glue sticks (10 thank you, what the hell are they gluing in 2nd grade anyway?), dry erase markers and pencil sharpeners. Yup that about covers it.
Target can’t pay me enough to go back with three kids to try and find the remaining goods.
I wish I was walking in a snow covered forest alone, only hearing my feet crunch across the ground and taking deep breaths of fresh air. Yeah, that’s where I could find some calm right now.
